    Anthropology, BA

    About

Our BA Anthropology course offers a unique opportunity to explore the social, material, linguistic and biological aspects of human experience.

Our programme provides the necessary skills and knowledge required to learn and apply theory and research techniques used across the discipline. You will use these skills to address the major challenges we face, from the impacts of climate change on communities, to the transformation of work by platform technologies.

You will receive training in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies and in descriptive, analytic, interpretative and visual techniques. This will prepare you to undertake fieldwork in communities in Bristol and further afield.

In your first year you will take a series of units introducing you to social, linguistic and biological anthropology and anthropological approaches to material culture. In your second year you can choose from a range of optional units on specific themes and geographical regions.

The third year provides an opportunity to pursue a specialist area of interest, working closely with a member of staff to write a dissertation on an original topic of your choice.
