    Overview Anthropology is a discipline concerned with studying the cultural, social, historical, and anatomical aspects of our collective human experience. Students of anthropology at Florida Gulf Coast University learn the basic concerns and methods of the four sub-fields of the discipline: archaeology, biological anthropology, cultural anthropology, and linguistics.Both a major and minor in anthropology are offered in this program. The anthropology major is for anyone interested in working with people in all of their cultural diversity, solving social problems, teaching social sciences, and examining human behavior and biology from an evolutionary point of view.The skills and abilities attained through this degree are necessary for life and work in an increasingly global and dynamic world. Anthropology graduates find employment in public archaeology, education, cultural resource management, museums, nonprofit institutions, and in corporations.Graduates with B.A. in Anthropology from Florida Gulf Coast University will be able to:Master concepts central to the anthropological perspective, and effectively employ and apply the concepts and terminology of anthropology.Identify major figures in the history of anthropology, major schools/orientation of anthropological theory, and important trends in contemporary anthropological theory and methods.Approach the solution of human problems through anthropological methods.Show ability to conduct basic anthropological research involving research in a local community and/or analysis of existing scholarly resources.
