    About

Agriculture and Food Systems Are you interested in an entrepreneurial and innovative education in the agricultural sciences, spanning the entire range from production to table? The Agricultural and Food Systems (A&FS) major will allow you to seek a career in agribusiness, government service, and agricultural education and extension, as well as prepare you to be an owner/operator of a farming enterprise. Rather than providing specific options within the major, a unique aspect of the A&FS major is the ability for you to tailor your course work to your specific interests. You will have the ability to choose classes of interest from several clusters of specific courses. Depending upon the courses chosen, areas in which you could focus include controlled-environment and precision agriculture, agricultural policy and entrepreneurship, energy efficiency, and niche agriculture, including agro-tourism, community-supported agriculture, and sustainable agriculture.

Students currently studying in the United States are not eligible for the RU-PATH program. If a student is currently studying in a U.S. high school, he/she should for regular admission to a Rutgers degree program.

    English Program Requirements

Regardless of U.S. residency status, an English proficiency examination is required of all students whose secondary schooling has been outside the U.S. in a country where English is not the principal language. Score reports must be from tests taken within the past two years and submitted directly to us from the testing service.

Please note: Students who have earned a grade of B or better in a college-level English Composition course at an accredited U.S. college (not a foreign affiliate) are exempt from the English language proficiency requirement. English courses that are designated ESL, non-native, or which require a special support component, or any courses taken outside the US, are not acceptable. Please also note that Rutgers does not accept correspondence or online courses for the language proficiency requirement.
