    About

Overview The Applied Economics program of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is designed to better prepare students with a baccalaureate in economics or a related field to serve the financial sector, federal and state governments, and private industry with sophisticated methods and rigorous models of analysis. Our CommunityUCLA’s Department of Economics is one of the highest-ranked in the world. Our active faculty are shaping policy and informing critical issues with their world-renowned research. The MAE program features instruction from mostly tenured faculty, providing students with the opportunity to engage in critical discussion on a diversity of topics. The Department’s alumni also play key roles in banking, consulting, finance, accounting, management, business, technology, marketing, and human resources – to name a few. I want to find another Master Course The MAE is an intense, full-time, 9-month (3 quarter) program, which integrates theory and applications. The first quarter will consist of microeconomic theory, macroeconomic theory, and quantitative methods courses that cover the basic tools and models used in economics literature. These same courses will continue into the second quarter, but with greater emphasis on applying the tools and methods. In addition to the three economics courses, the first two quarters will also include courses on written and oral communication of economic ideas, which will concentrate on how to structure a presentation or paper and how to communicate effectively when presenting arguments. The third quarter will consist of a variety of elective courses on specific subfields within economics. Each student will prepare and present a final project based on the content of one of these courses.
The Applied Economics program of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) was created in response to the increasingly high demand from students seeking a terminal master’s degree in economics from UCLA and employers looking for candidates with advanced training.
