About
The Master of Mathematical Finance program at Illinois Tech is a professional, non-thesis interdisciplinary program offered jointly by the Department of Applied Mathematics in the College of Science and Stuart School of Business, providing an advanced education in theoretical, computational, and business aspects of quantitative methodologies relevant to the financial industry—essential skills in pursuing a career in financial risk management.
This accelerated master's program offers an ideal balance of theoretical knowledge and practical application. After building a solid foundation in mathematics and mathematical finance, you will be immersed in the quantitative principles of valuation and hedging of financial securities. The quantitative core is based on the theory of stochastic process and stochastic calculus and mathematical and computational finance, as well as advanced numerical and simulation methods.

Requirements
Entry Requirements
Students in the Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics program may apply for admission to the accelerated master's program for mathematical finance after their second year, fourth semester, or 80 credit hours (including transfer credit) of undergraduate study.
An overall GPA of at least 3.0 and a GPA of at least 3.25 in math are required for admission to the accelerated master's program.
English Program Requirements
International students who fit into any of the following categories will be considered to have met the requirement:
- Residents of a country where English is the only official language and who is a native English speaker
- Graduates of U.S. high schools
- Completed the equivalent of Iowa State’s English 150 or 250 with a grade of B or better at an accredited U.S. 2 year or 4 year college or university.
CONDITIONAL ADMISSION
If you meet all admission requirements but do not meet our English proficiency requirements, Iowa State offers conditional admission to attend our Intensive English and Orientation Program (IEOP). If you would like to enroll in IEOP, on the application choose "I would like to enroll in Iowa State’s IEOP program before I begin the academic study.”
