Arabic is the fifth most spoken language in the world, and is used throughout North Africa and the Middle East. With over 420 million speakers, Arabic has been a driving force for advancements in science and cultural enrichment. Study Arabic and explore the rich, complex culture of this region through a multi-faceted and engaging course of study. You will be prepared for graduate study and careers in a diverse array of fields. Arabic is also one of the official languages of the United Nations. The Arabic Major is composed of 36-42 credits.

120 credits of coursework is required for the baccalaureate degree with a minimum 2.0 overall GPA, and a minimum 2.0 major GPA.

• Montclair State University considers a number of factors in reviewing admissions applications. Well-qualified candidates for admission have a 3.2 or higher cumulative high school GPA on an unweighted, 4.0 scale, a challenging course load (particularly in junior and senior years), and a variety of extracurricular activities.
• Submission of SAT or ACT scores is not required, but, if you chose to submit those scores, they will be considered in the admissions process.
• Other factors considered in our holistic review process include: strong letters of recommendation from teachers and/or counselors; a well-written, thoughtful admissions essay; and a commitment to extracurricular engagement, both in school and in the community.
