    The Masters degree programme in Architecture and Urban Design revolves around architectural and urban design and its implementation in construction by means of practice-oriented teaching. Students expand on their knowledge in the humanities, social sciences, planning and engineering related to the professional field of architecture, and undertake more interdisciplinary teamwork.

    An undergraduate degree in a related field of study, such as

    • Architecture (Bachelor of Science)

    Please note that an application folder and an internship certificate must be submitted for the application in addition to the regular application documents. The application folder includes a motivation letter as well as work samples.

    For master's degree programmes with restricted admission, places shall be allocated according to the university’s own selection procedure, if there are more applicants fulfilling the admission requirements than there are places available. The exact admission requirements can be found in the admission regulations:

    There is no minimum grade / entry grade for the Master's application. Notwithstanding the currently valid admission regulations for Master's programmes, the minimum grade of 2.5 is no longer applied. The admission regulations will be revised in this regard.

    The Masters degree is the academic prerequisite for acceptance to a Chamber of Architecture. Additional state-specific requirements must also be met before graduates can be admitted to a Chamber of Architecture. This degree programme is one of only a few degrees in Germany that have been notified by the EU for automatic acceptance before all European Chambers of Architects.

    How to Apply

    You can use our online application portal to enrol any time between 1 June and 30 September. To be able to do this, you will need a qualification for admission to higher education. At the end of the online application, you will automatically be forwarded to a cover letter (the so-called application for enrollment). Sign this application for enrollment (handwritten or digital) and put it together with the required documents into one PDF document, which you can then upload using the upload link provided. The required documents include your qualification for admission to higher education (e.g. Abitur) and any other supporting documents such as practical training certificates or evidence of language proficiency. We also need proof of your health insurance and evidence that you have paid the semester fee. At the end of the online application, all required documents are listed and must be uploaded as a scan of the original documents by September 30th, 11:59 p.m. Please do not forget to upload your photo for the LeibnizCard . You can find information on this in the application for enrollment at the end of the online application. In September, you will receive your enrolment documents, an invitation to the welcome event for new students and information about any preparatory courses that may be offered. Please note that some degree programmes offer preparatory courses well before term starts.
