The HND Art and Design (Art Practice) is a Fine Art course run over two years. This is a nationally recognised course which is equivalent to the 1st year of an art school undergraduate degree (level 4), and the second year (level 5) is the equivalent to the 2nd year of an undergraduate degree. The course is designed to help you discover and develop your individual abilities and strengths. Throughout the course you will be required to learn and demonstrate technical skills and critical judgement which will inform your work. You will be supported in the process of developing and maturing your ideas and concepts, being able to present them in both written and verbal form. The course also aims to increase your professional attitude to your art practice which you will need to demonstrate in the mid-year and end-of-year exhibitions. In addition, considerable time is spent helping you with your portfolio selection and interview practice if you are applying for a degree or MA study. We hope the HND will give you confidence to progress with your ideas, provide encouragement and support to build a new body of work and to exhibit as professional artists. We offer you the opportunity to further specialise and refine your professional practise in a supportive and stimulating environment
