    The Department of Art and Design provides quality education in the areas of art education, art history, fine art studio, photography, visual arts, and graphic design. The Department cultivates high standards for creativity, craft, conceptual understanding, critical analysis, historical scholarship, and pedagogy. Central to these pursuits are the artistic practice and scholarly research of faculty, the dedication of support staff to the department's educational objectives, and engaged teaching, learning, and scholarship. The Department of Art and Design is a thriving learning community grounded in the Marianist tradition of educating the whole person. It is fully integrated with the College and the University and contributes significantly to our institutional commitment to excellence. The University of Dayton is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).

    Entry Requirements

    • Official secondary transcripts (in language of original issue). Transcripts of all previously attended secondary schools, including dates of attendance, all subjects studied, grades earned and marks achieved on examinations;
      • Transcripts not issued in English should be accompanied by a certified English translation.
      • Proof of completion must also be provided in the form of a graduation date listed on the transcript, a diploma, or a certificate of completion. If secondary schooling is still in progress, this must be submitted as soon as completed and prior to enrollment at the University of Dayton.
      • Transcripts may be submitted directly from the secondary school to the University of Dayton via:

        • E-transcript sent to: [email protected]
        • Emailed to [email protected]
    • Proof of English Proficiency. If your native language is not English, you are required to submit proof of English proficiency by submitting TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, DET, SAT or ACT scores. Your scores should be sent to the University of Dayton directly from the testing center using code 1834 or for the ACT, code 3342.

    • Financial documentation. F-1 and J-1 students must provide a letter of financial support and a bank statement showing sufficient funds to cover the first year of study. These may be emailed to [email protected] OR mailed to the address above.
