    About

The HND in Art & Design (Graphic Design) at Morley College Chelsea Centre for the Creative Industries is designed to provide students with a broad ranging experience of this ever-evolving subject area. The course is aimed at those who wish to work as professional graphic designers. This industry has exhibited growth over the past 5 years, especially in areas such as digital advertising, website design and digital design services. This course will help you to develop and extend your creative practice as a designer by providing you with a wide range of experiences such as working with clients, exhibiting your work, engaging with industry focused projects and competitions. You will study graphics related techniques, contextual studies, typography, packaging and printmaking during year one of the course. Year two will include opportunities to explore professional practice, web design, art direction, branding and identity. You will work towards an end of year exhibition at our Chelsea centre during year one and two. We also intend to participate in the D&AD New Blood Festival in London as a culmination of your studies in the second year. You will be supported via tutorials and regular contact with the course team. BTEC Higher Nationals in Art and Design were developed to enable students to progress to employment or progress to a final year at university . The qualifications were designed in collaboration with higher education institutions and industry partners from the creative sector.

    Fee Information

Students pay a design studio fee of £60 per year towards paper, card and maintenance of equipment. Additional material expenses occur as students work on projects. Whilst material and equipment demands vary by student and brief, these are entirely determined by the individual student. It is expected that students themselves will need to purchase specialist art and design materials and equipment for the duration of the course. This will include printing costs. Educational visits to some exhibitions at museums and galleries will incur admission fee costs and travel costs of approximately £50 per year, which should be budgeted for.
