    About

Design-oriented, self-confident, self-disciplined, and inventive are essential qualities of students desiring to attain the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design at UGA.  Since Interior Design is a service profession, students must demonstrate a passion for function and aesthetics while being able to work with people to meet their needs.

The major curriculum includes courses in design history, interior finishes, furniture design, lighting, decorative arts, residential design, computer-aided design (CAD), studio courses, and many others.  Students express ideas verbally and visually through free-hand drawing, architectural drafting, physical and electronic models, and other graphic media; it is strongly recommended that students purchase a laptop computer.

Graduates pursue active careers in design of residences, offices, restaurants, hotels, spas, and resorts, but also work in health-related facilities, retail spaces, places of worship, schools, museums, theaters, government facilities, and interiors of transportation vehicles such as trains, ships, and airplanes.  Most graduates are affiliated with architectural non-residential interior design firms.  A significant number seek advanced degrees in interior or architectural design.

    How to Apply

UGA supports two different application platforms for First-Year applications. Students should only submit one of these applications. We do not prefer any particular application platform, so please select the option that works best for you and your school counselor. While we are still members of the Coalition for College, we will not be accepting applications on that platform for students applying for Fall 2023.
