    About

The Photography program at the Lamar Dodd School of Art has a deep commitment to analog and digital technologies, and intersections of the two. The study of Photography spans the history of the medium from large format cameras and historic printing processes to the latest in digital technology, mixed media, and installation. The highly selective program typically has approximately forty undergraduate students and seven to nine graduate students generating innovative new work within the medium.

The program forms a comprehensive study of the art of photography including its processes and technology, history, criticism, contemporary practices, and the expressive potential of its unique visual language. Students are supported in their work by the facilities and studio space of School of Art. Housed in the main art building, the Photography area occupies over 7,000 square feet and spans two floors. How to Apply

UGA supports two different application platforms for First-Year applications. Students should only submit one of these applications. We do not prefer any particular application platform, so please select the option that works best for you and your school counselor. While we are still members of the Coalition for College, we will not be accepting applications on that platform for students applying for Fall 2023.
