BA (Hons) Art Enterprise (Top-Up)

Collaborate with creative practitioners and captivate an audience as you forge a career as a contemporary artist. This degree is for you if you would like to emerge in the creative scene as a curator, collector, gallery owner, artist or art entrepreneur. You will refine your practice while learning marketing and promotional skills to support your professional development.

About the course You will understand how to engage through artworks and apply your art to multiple contexts as the industry requires. Building upon the skills acquired in a foundation degree, you will nurture your creative vision while developing your critical understanding of art. You will explore creative contexts and art engagement learning how to mesmerise audiences. This programme nurtures your creative ability, inspiring you to refine your practice while acquiring the skills that are demanded by creative employers in the contemporary art landscape. You will work in conjunction with other designers and artists to generate and grow a captive audience. Explore a range of art-focused career routes and make creative connections with artists, gallerists, curators and more. You will also have the opportunity to showcase your work in various galleries and exhibitions in the vibrant Leeds art scene. This course is subject to validation by The Open University.

Requirements

Entry Requirements

A typical offer is likely to be pass at Foundation Degree or a Merit profile in a relevant HND, together with a number of GCSE grades at C or above including English.

All students are to present a portfolio of artwork and supporting academic text which is disclosed during an interview or correspondence for distance applicants.

International qualifications will be assessed against these criteria.

Speakers of other languages need to have an IELTS score of at least 6.0 or a recognised level 2 English qualification.

All students must be able to demonstrate either by qualifications or testing that they have the required literacy skills to complete the course.

The course can be offered as part-time, if required.

English Program Requirements

IELTS: IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any component. International qualifications: International qualifications will be assessed against these criteria.
