(National Student Survey 2020 and 2021) The Art History programme delivered by specialist staff combines new media technologies with more traditional disciplinary practices to equip you with the professional skills you will need to succeed and to shape the cultural and creative industries. Within the degree, ethno- and gender-centric art histories are contextualised amongst diverse, non-Western practices with a view to redressing historical imbalances and injustices. From Banksy to Basquiat, from Kusama to Kngwarreye, you are encouraged to find your own place and voice within these fantastically complex visual worlds. This Art History Degree is taught at Bristol School of Art, Clifton. Bristol School of Art is one of the oldest Art Schools in the country, being established in 1858 and has a recognised reputation for offering high quality education, across a range of creative disciplines.* Bristol School of Art is based right in the centre of student life in Clifton, Bristol. The Campus is situated in the right-hand wing of the Royal West of England Academy on Queens Road. Bristol is a large vibrant city, but still easy enough to walk around. It has been named on numerous occasions as one of the best cities in which to live and to study. This BA (Hons) Degree will take full advantage of the cultural and artistic opportunities that the city has to offer. The course is built around taught workshops, independent activities, seminars, tutorials and lectures.
