    Overview Immerse yourself in the world of art and visual culture as you study European, North American, Latin American, and Asian art and themes by taking the Art History program from Syracuse University. Examine the historical roots of art, encompassing everything from ancient and Italian Renaissance up to modern art.On campus, you can volunteer at Syracuse’s Special Collections Research Center and SUArt Galleries, and in the surrounding community you can explore museums and art galleries. During your senior year, you’ll complete a seminar exploring the practical application of an art history major, with a focus on careers, professional research, and writing.The research and teaching specialties of the art history faculty include Greek art, medieval art and architecture, Italian Renaissance art, 17th-century Dutch painting, 19th- and 20th-century European art, American and Native American art, Indian art and architecture, Medievalism, and History of Photography.Studies in the history of architecture are offered in association with the faculty of the School of Architecture (see program description under “History of Architecture” in this section of the catalog). Cooperative programs with the College of Visual and Performing Arts, the S.I.
