    About

    With our BSc (Hons) Audio & Music Technology degree, you’ll integrate theories of sound into your audio projects, as you build a portfolio for a future career in the creative industries, including live sound, gaming, broadcast and film.

    Under the guidance of experienced academic staff and industry-active practitioners, you will spend time developing a broad, balanced skill set, acquiring proficiencies in the design, integration, and operation of the technologies and techniques that will underpin your future career.

    Our Audio & Music Technology course is accredited by JAMES (Joint Audio Media Education Support). Their trained assessors and accreditation panel members are working professionals with extensive knowledge and experience of today’s music and audio industry - so you can be sure our course will give you all the relevant skills you need for a successful career.

    Make the most of Cambridge’s diverse music scene with our links to local networks such as Cambridge Arts Network and Cambridge Live – from classical music to UK rap or even film and computer game soundtrack, there are plenty of opportunities to explore your style.

    Take advantage of an optional work placement between years two and three, plus internships with our industry partners and practitioners. Opportunities like these provide great experience to include on your CV plus a fantastic opportunity to make those essential industry contacts.

    Spend time working in climate-controlled recording studios and audio/video production facilities with support from our dedicated technical team. Develop your music and experiment with different styles and techniques as you immerse yourself in our industrious and collaborative student community.

    Entry Requirements

    Academic entry requirements

    for students coming from Jordan to ARU

    For entry to a bachelor’s degree (year 1), we will consider the following qualifications:

    • A recognised foundation programme
    • International Baccalaureate Diploma
    • International Advanced Levels (A Levels)
    • Tawjihi with an average grade of 60% plus a Community College Certificate/Diploma with average 50%

    For entry to a master’s degree, we will consider the following qualifications:

    • A recognised pre-masters course
    • Bachelors degree with an overall CGPA of 2.5 or above
    For entry to a research degree, we will consider overseas qualifications equivalent to a UK Master’s degree. Please visit our postgraduate research pages for more information on the application requirements.

    English Program Requirements

    If English is not your first language you will need to be able to show you have the required level of English language. This is so we can ensure you'll be able to follow your course.

    • Our standard entry criteria for undergraduate courses is IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, with nothing lower than 5.5 in any of the four elements (listening, speaking, reading and writing).
    • Our standard entry criteria for postgraduate taught and postgraduate research courses is IELTS 6.5, with nothing lower than 5.5 in any of the four elements (listening, speaking, reading and writing).

    If you don't meet our English language requirements, our Language Centre offers a range of courses which could help you achieve the level required for entry onto a degree course.
