Aviation Management

Beginning in 1967, Louisiana Tech University's Department of Professional Aviation has established itself as a high-quality degree program with a national reputation for outstanding graduates. The Department is a member of the University Aviation Association and is accredited by the Aviation Accreditation Board International.

In 2017, the Department of Professional Aviation integrated a new fleet of 12 Cessna Skyhawk and Piper Arrow aircraft. The Department conducts both ground, simulator, and flight training year-round. Flight operations are headquartered at the Ruston Regional Airport in the Louisiana Tech Flight Operations building. We have aviation management cooperative agreements with the Louisiana Airport Managers Association and many Fixed-Based Operators in the region. Our links with industry are accomplished by internship programs with numerous major air carriers, regional airlines, corporate aviation, and government organizations as well as maintaining close contacts with our graduates.

Mission Statement

As a selective-admissions, collegiate aviation program, the Department of Professional Aviation is committed to providing two AABI-accredited baccalaureate degrees in Professional Aviation and Aviation Management. Both academic programs focus on setting a standard of excellence and providing graduates with the knowledge, skills, experience, and attitudes necessary to shape and lead the aviation industry in the 21st century. Louisiana Tech University and the Department of Professional Aviation maintain as their highest priority the education and development of their students in a challenging, yet safe and supportive, diverse community of learners.

Step 1 – Completing the Application
All sections of the application are to be completed including submission of the application. Applications are not processed unless submitted by the applicant. Please call 318.257.2924 or email if you have any questions.

TIP: You will need to have the following information handy when completing your application

• Names and contact information for references – some programs require them
• Names and dates of all post-secondary Universities attended where credit was attempted (whether or not credit was earned)
• Date of most recent or highest GRE/GMAT test and the registration number. (Not required for Executive MBA, Concurrent MAcc/MBA, or Graduate Certificate applicants) The test must be no older than 5 years.
• Unofficial transcripts for uploading
• International students — date of most recent or highest TOEFL/IELTS test score; scores cannot be older than 2 years of age
• International students completing ELS 112 Certification — upload a copy of the ELS Certificate
• International student — English translation of foreign transcripts
• Official transcripts from all institutions attended must be submitted

Step 2 – Creating Your Account 

1. Click here to APPLY NOW.
2. Select Create an account under “First-time users.”
3. Enter your email address, first name, last name and birthdate.
4. Check your email for a temporary PIN and enter on screen, and login in.
5. Create a password. Password must have:
   1. At least one letter
   2. At least one capital letter
   3. At least one number
   4. Be at least 12 characters
6. Once you’ve set your password, Click “Start New Application” on the next screen and select “Graduate Application” From the drop down menu.
