    About

    East 15 Acting School's BA Acting course develops your individual talent, imagination and skill so that you graduate as a creative, proactive and collaborative practitioner ready for a career in the performance arts industries.

    From the start of your course you are introduced to the basic methods and theories of acting, particularly the work of Konstantin Stanislavsky, Sanford Meisner and Rudolf Laban, working in small groups with our professionally experienced staff.

    In the first and second year, through a step-by-step process you will advance your knowledge and versatility as an actor. In your final year, you will concentrate on professional development adapting your skills to work with a range of visiting directors and other industry professionals.

    Our training in acting is about exploration. You will experience a wide range of rehearsal techniques - learning technical skills and applying them to many diverse acting challenges. You will leave as a knowledgeable, professional actor with a creative approach and a solid process.

    Acting is a choice, not just a dream.

    EU and international students are encouraged to apply for BA Acting (International) which provides a complete preparation for careers in acting tailored specifically for international students.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    Previous university/college study is required in addition to local high school qualifications for our Undergraduate Bachelor degree courses.

    We accept a number of international qualifications, including the International Baccalaureate with the majority of our courses requiring a grade 30 or above or the SATR with the majority of our courses requiring a minimum of 1100 out of 1600 with 550 in each test.

    Career

    Graduates of BA Acting regularly appear in stage, film, TV and radio productions throughout the world. Recent graduates have gone on to work with major companies such as the National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company, Shakespeare's Globe, Manchester Royal Exchange, BBC, ITV and in the West End. Students are consistently successful in the BBC Radio Drama Carleton Hobbs competition, which results in a professional contract. They have also been consistent winners of both The John Gielgud and The Laurence Olivier Bursaries. For the past ten years, BA Acting students have represented East 15 at the Globe Theatre's Sam Wanamaker Festival.

    East 15's BA Acting graduates are known, and often cast, for their boldness, versatility and professional commitment as actors.

    How to Apply

    UCAS

    Applications to UCAS are open for 2023-24 entry. Applications are made online via the UCAS Apply and UCAS Hub, where you will be charged a small fee for processing your application. Here you will be able to fill out your details, upload your personal statement, choose the universities you would like to apply for, and track your application status.

    It’s important that you complete your application fully to give us all the information we need to make a decisions as quickly as possible. A few key things that we will need are:

    • Details of all qualifications, including those you may have not finished yet and any predicted grades
    • Your personal statement (we have some tips for this)
    • A suitable reference – if this is not provided or does not meet our requirements this may be a condition of any offer made and will be required before your place can be confirmed.

    The UCAS code for Essex is ESSEX E70. Our individual campus codes for our Loughton and Southend campuses are ‘L’ and ‘S’ respectively. There is no campus code for Colchester – please leave this blank in your application.
