    Bachelor of Accountancy

    About

    Bachelor of Accountancy Courses Walsh requires 127 credits (including up to 82 transfer credits, 30 of which must be general education coursework). Students pursuing a Bachelor of Accountancy can specialize in either the CPA or CMA concentrations. The Walsh BAC emphasizes mastery of accounting principles for all types of industry settings. You will learn the financial analysis and communications skills needed to work with clients and explain specific accounting needs. Accounting Information Systems gives you hands-on experience in internal control systems and building complete financial statement packages. By engaging in both traditional teaching methods and the latest accounting software applications, you will be prepared to successfully merge business needs and technology.

    The Walsh BAC prepares you for a successful career by giving you a solid foundation in business accounting. You’ll understand the fundamental accounting concepts at work in business and build a specialized career in the field. Upon completion of the Walsh BAC, you will be equipped to:

    • Prepare internal control systems for recording transactions and costs.
    • Analyze financial statements, assets, liabilities, and net income.
    • Evaluate and streamline internal accounting procedures for clients.
    • Explain federal income tax processes for individuals and businesses.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    • Have a minimum entering cumulative grade point average of 2.000 on a 4.000 scale; all previous college/university-level coursework will be computed in the calculation.
    • Complete with a grade of "C" (2.000) or better at least 60 semester credit hours (or 90 quarter hours) of coursework at the 100/1000 level or higher. At least 30 semester credit hours (45 quarter hours) of your 60 credits must be in liberal arts coursework.
    • One English composition or written communication course.
    • One course (or equivalent placement test result) in intermediate algebra or a higher math course.
    • All academic coursework considered for use in meeting admissions requirements or for use in establishing directly equivalent transfer credit must be from an institution regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
    • Any applicants who have completed coursework or degrees from institutions outside of the United States must submit transcripts to an agency approved by Walsh College specializing in evaluation of international educational credentials. Applicants are responsible for all costs incurred. Walsh College recommends World Education Services or Education Credential Evaluators.

    For consideration for admission to a Walsh Bachelor of Accountancy, Bachelor of Business Administration, or Bachelor of Science in Information Technology degree program, an applicant must have:

     

    • An associate degree OR 60 semester credit hours completed at the 100/1000 level or above with a grade of “C” (2.000) or better and a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.000 on a 4.000 scale from all prior institutions attended

     

    All academic coursework considered for use in meeting admissions requirements or for use in establishing direct equivalent transfer credit must be from a regional accrediting organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and U.S. Department of Education (USDE), www.chea.org. Credits completed outside of the United States must be evaluated by an agency that is a member of NACES (www.naces.org).

    English Program Requirements

    • TOEFL score of 79-80 (internet-based) or 550 written; or
    • MELAB score of 80; or
    • MTELP score of 80; or
    • IELTS score of 6.5 (http://www.ielts.org); or
    • Duolingo English score of 105 (englishtest.duolingo.com/applicants) and Graduate Communications Assessment score of 3 upon admission; or
    • PTE A score of 53; or
    • Successful completion of Level 112 from ELS Language Centers; or
    • Successful completion of highest level of ESL program from an accredited U.S. institution; or
    • Successful completion of an English composition course from an accredited U.S. institution; or
    • Completion of a college degree from an accredited English-speaking institution.
