Bachelor of Arts (Archaeology)

Overview

• Are you intrigued by the stories of past societies and cultures? Delve deeper into the lifestyles of peoples past through the study of archaeology.
• Archaeologists examine the physical evidence of human societies from across all ages - from hundreds of thousands of years ago, to very recent history.
• Archaeology can shed light on some of the most intriguing issues regarding our human past; issues such as the colonisation of the New World, migration out of Africa, Old World globalisation and human-environment interaction. If you have ever been fascinated by the stories of past societies and cultures then archaeology might be your next adventure.
• With opportunities for hands-on archaeological training, including field methods laboratory analysis and project design, youll be guided by some of Australias most notable archaeologists while exploring the complexity of how people lived and interacted with one another throughout history.

Pre-requisites

To study this degree we assume you have sound knowledge in:

• English (Units 3 & 4, C) 

We assume that your knowledge is equivalent to a grade C or higher in Units 3 and 4 at high school level (typically studied in Year 12). Find out more about assumed knowledge.

English Language Proficiency tests should not be older than two years upon application.

Career outcomes

• Graduates in archaeology go on to work as professional archaeological consultants, museum curators and educators, and in the conservation and heritage management sector.
• Potential employers are archaeological and heritage management consulting firms, museums, university archaeological departments, Indigenous land councils, heritage agencies, local government, and resource exploration companies, to name a few.

• If you're applying for the Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Paramedicine or Bachelor of Midwifery, you will need to apply via QTAC. 
• If you are applying for an undergraduate program with UniSQ as a Domestic student, you are new to UniSQ, you are in Year 12 or completed Year 12 the year prior to commencing your study, or it's been a while since you left school, apply through QTAC.
• If you have previously studied at UniSQ or have completed a Certificate III or higher with TAFE QLD, you can apply directly to UniSQ.
• If you're an International student, you can apply directly to UniSQ.
• If you are applying to study a postgraduate program with UniSQ you will need to submit your application directly to UniSQ via the online application portal.
