Bachelor of Arts (International)

About

The Bachelor of Arts is a four-year, full-time, honours degree but can be shortened to three years in the case of some international applicants. At MIC the programme is flexible and wide-ranging. Students study four different major subjects in First Year and focus on two of these in Second Year, which they will then continue to study to degree level as joint honours. You can study a combination of subjects from familiar Arts subjects such as English, French, German or History, to newer subjects such as Drama & Theatre Studies, Media & Communication Studies or Psychology. If you are pursuing the four-year programme, you will spend your third year off-campus on a work placement or studying abroad.

Students from abroad can choose from 13 subjects on this flexible and wide-ranging programme.

Entry Requirements

Undergraduate Entry Requirements

All students must undertake a Foundation Programme recommended by MIC.
Entry to Foundation programme requires a CGPA of 80% or above in General Secondary Education Certificate including English, Mathematics and another language.
An IELTS of 5.5 is also necessary depending on the Foundation stream.

Postgraduate (Taught) Entry Requirements

3.0 for applicants whose degrees are marked on a 4 point GPA scale.
4.0 for applicants whose degrees are marked on a 5 point GPA scale.
Please note, consideration will be given to applicants with 3.70 or higher on a 5 point scale but these applicants will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

English Program Requirements

Matriculation Examinations: From European countries where English is presented as a subject and an acceptable level is achieved Irish Leaving Certificate English: Ordinary Level Grade D or above TOEFL: 580 (paper-based) or 90 (internet-based) IELTS: Minimum score of 6.5* with no less than 6.0 in any component. *Please note, we can only accept Academic IELTS (or equivalent TOEFL/Duolingo). General IELTS will not be accepted. ETAPP (English Test for Academic and Professional Purposes): Grade C1 GCE ‘O’ Level English Language/ GCSE English Language: Grade C or above University of Cambridge ESOL: Certificate of Proficiency in English - Grade C / Certificate in Advanced English - Grade B GCE Examination Boards: Oxford Delegacy of Local Examinations - Grade C / Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate - School Certificate Pass 1-6 University of London Entrance and School Examinations Council - School Certificate Pass 1-6 PTE (Pearson Test of English) Academic: A minimum score of 61 (with no section score below 59) MIC has approved the use of the Duolingo English Test (DET) as a temporary measure for the 2021/2 intake (due to test centre closures). The minimum requirement will be a DET score of 110. Results in examinations other than those listed above may also be accepted as meeting our English language requirements. If students do not meet the English language requirements above, there are a range of short-term English language programmes offered at MIC.
