    In today's world, there is a focus on Health and professionals with expertise in biotechnology and law are sought after. This exciting program combines both biotechnology and law enabling you to graduate with two degrees and work in either sector. There is a need to supply start-up services in biomedicine/biotechnology areas that can be staffed and supported by intelligent and informed professionals who can cater to the needs of these expanding sectors.

    The School of Biomedical Sciences and Pharmacy provide expertise in the health and medical science content regarding the pharmaceutical, therapeutics goods and medical technology industries. The well-known and highly regarded School of Law will develop your skills and understanding in Contract Law, Health Law and Intellectual Property Law so that you can make a meaningful contribution in this sector. Knowledge in Intellectual property law can help to navigate commercialisation and is covered within the Bachelor of Laws (Honours) (LLB) program. There is great synergy, potential and demand for collaboration between these programs for the purposes of changes in policy and regulatory affairs.

    To meet the requirements of the Bachelor of Biomedicine/Bachelor of Laws (Honours) students are required to complete 400 units as follows:

    • 160 units of Core Biomedical Science courses
    • 160 units of Core Law courses
    • 80 units of Law Directed courses

    Students will study core courses in biomedical science that provide advanced theoretical knowledge in:

    • Anatomy
    • Cell and molecular biology
    • Genetics
    • Immunology and microbiology
    • Medical biochemistry
    • Neuroscience
    • Pathophysiology
    • Pharmacology
    • Physiology

    You will learn and develop skills by studying courses in various aspects of law including:

    • Torts Law
    • Property
    • Criminal law and procedure
    • Evidence
    • Equity and trusts
    • Administrative law
    • Property law
    • Contract law
