Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Biomedicine

Co-designed with industry leaders, our double degree gives you a multidisciplinary set of skills and knowledge sought-after by employers and policymakers. You'll learn to take advantage of the synergies between the two disciplines and how to solve complex problems by merging technical know-how and strategic analysis with an in-depth knowledge of innovations in the medical field.

By completing La Trobe's Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Biomedicine, you will:

• learn how to identify practical solutions to real-world challenges, improve your ability to negotiate with stakeholders and communicate your solutions
• develop critical skills in independent research, innovative thinking, cultural intelligence, oral and written communication, and teamwork
• prepare to become an effective leader who can meet the challenges of automation, AI-driven technologies and big data
• build fundamental knowledge in chemistry, bioscience and health before delving into infectious diseases, epidemics and pandemics
• gain real-world experience through industry placements, work-integrated learning projects and overseas student exchange opportunities.

The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 7 - Bachelor Degree.

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

6.5 IELTS (Academic) with no individual band less than 6.0.

After graduation, you could work in a diverse range of fields across the health industry, including biomedicine, biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medicine research. You can also choose to specialise in the commercial and administrative aspects of health. Possible roles include:

• biomedical researcher
• biotechnologist
• accountant
• financial adviser
• project manager.
