    Explore the social and behavioural science of criminology. Examine contemporary criminal justice issues in Australia. Be informed by the latest thinking and most up-to-date developments in criminology and criminal justice. Study the key principles of criminal law and procedures including criminal responsibility, defences, bail and evidence and the links to policing, punishment and victimisation.

    Develop your understanding of research methods to inform policy design and analysis. Investigate different ways of doing research, including how to design ethical studies that address pressing criminal justice challenges. Build your analytical skills and apply them to real-life problems in applied social research.

    Build your understanding of topical social problems and how policymakers can work to address these by incorporating research and evidence. Gain a comprehensive understanding of how to analyse, track and measure the impact of policy interventions.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    To be eligible, an applicant must have achieved at least one of the following minimum entry requirements and demonstrate they fulfil any prerequisite and essential criteria for admission. In cases where there are more eligible applicants than available places, admission will be competitive with ranks based on the entry criteria.

    Secondary education (Year 12)

    • Completion of a secondary education qualification equivalent to the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE).

    Vocational Education and Training (VET)

    • Completion of an award from a registered training organisation (RTO) at Certificate IV (AQF level 4) or higher.

    Higher education study

    • Successful completion of at least 6 months full-time study (or equivalent part-time) in a higher education award program.
