The World Economic Forum (2023) states cybercrime has become the world’s third-largest economy behind the United States and China. Cybercrime could destabilise the global economy, underscoring the urgent need for robust cybersecurity measures to protect individuals, organisations and governments from digital attacks.

As a response, the Australian Government also unveiled its ambitious vision to become a world leader in cybersecurity by 2030 through its Australian Cyber Security Strategy. The government will dedicate AUD$8.6 million to professionalise the cyber workforce and AUD$9.4 million to develop a threat-sharing platform for the health sector – as investment examples.
