    Overview

    • Be at the forefront of technical solutions and take the first step toward a diverse and rewarding career as a software developer. Practically every industry needs its own type of software and people who can create it to their unique specifications.
    • The Software Application Development major allows you to explore web technology, techniques and database systems; to learn how to plan and manage large software projects; and provides a rounded skillset ready for the workforce.
    • Study a Bachelor of IT with UniSQ and learn about the fundamentals of structured programming and the application of basic algorithms and data structures.
    • You’ll grow your interpersonal skills and work collaboratively to explore creative ways to solve problems through coding.
    • Gain hands-on work-integrated learning experience and connect with our industry partners during a final-year capstone course.
    • Undertake a double major in IT or choose to combine this major with courses from other disciplines, such as Law, Business, Science or Arts, to meet your career goals.

    Entry requirements

    To study this degree we assume you have sound knowledge in:

    • English (Units 3 & 4, C)

    We assume that your knowledge is equivalent to a grade C or higher in Units 3 and 4 at high school level (typically studied in Year 12). Find out more about assumed knowledge.

    It is also recommended that you have studied General Mathematics (Units 3 & 4, C), or equivalent.

    English language requirements

    You are required to meet the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 with a minimum 5.5 in each subscore. UniSQ also accepts other English language proficiency tests.

    If you don't meet the English language requirements, you can apply to study with our English language partner, the Union Institute of Language (UIL), or if you're a domestic student you can apply to study UniSQ Ready courses TPP0122 and TPP0123.

    English Program Requirements

    Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows students to gain credit (advanced standing) towards their course in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training. Applicants are assessed on a case-by-case basis.

    • Graduates can find work as a software developer, software programmer, IT systems manager, database system developer and manager, or app developer in a range of industries, such as precision agriculture or engineering firms, insurance or banking.
