    Career

Where will your degree take you?

A Tourism and Hotel Market Outlook 2021 report released by Deloitte predicts that, once the pandemic is under control, domestic overnight trips will increase by 14% in 2023 compared to 2019.  Pent-up demand will likely stimulate strong demand for international travel in 2022 and beyond.

A degree in hotel and tourism management is a qualification accepted nationally and internationally by leading hotel and tourism industry employers. It will prepare you for professional roles in the tourism industry, including hotels, resorts, airlines, restaurants, theme parks, cruise lines, destination marketing and management organisations, and major event management companies.

    Outcomes

    Event manager

Event managers are professionals responsible for the creation, development, coordination, and organisation of occasions such as weddings, festivals, conventions, conferences, exhibitions, concerts, and trade shows. Events managers are also required to be good financial managers, as working within strict budgets is an essential part of the role.

    Front office manager

The Front Office Manager is responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day operations of a hotel or hospitality organisation or business run efficiently. You will need to provide a high level of customer service in addition to having strong team management skills.
Organisations that commonly employ front office managers include hotels, resorts, cruise ships, and even hospitals.

    Revenue manager

The primary role of a revenue manager is to maximize revenue and profit for the business. Revenue managers work closely with sales teams, reception desk employees and the hotel general manager in areas of promotion, inventory management, business planning and reservation costs. They might conduct analyses of prices offered by other hotels or airlines to develop competitive price and discount strategies so good analytical and strategic planning skills are essential.
