    Bond University’s Bachelor of Journalism combines the core journalistic values of evidence, fairness, and accuracy with an in-depth understanding of storytelling in the digital age.

    Learn to conceptualise, research, and create compelling content across the spectrum of traditional media and digital platforms. In our state-of-the-art news studios and multimedia editing suites, you will develop podcasts, videos, and social media content, as well as news articles and magazine stories for print and digital media and television segments.

    You will have the opportunity to report for local, national, and international media outlets and to undertake journalism and digital media internships in Australia and overseas, including New York, Washington, and London.*

    General Secondary Education Certificate 85%

    Grade average of final year results. Converted to a percentage scale where 50% = pass if otherwise reported.

    General Secondary Education Certificate (Successful Completion) and required SAT score 1020

    Overall test score. Where multiple test results have been presented, the overall test result providing the best rank will be used.

    English language proficiency requirements

    Bond's programs are taught and assessed in English, so depending on your educational background and citizenship, you may be required to provide evidence that your English language ability meets our requirements. This may include submitting results from an approved English Language Test taken in the past two years - you can see the required results for the most common approved tests below. There are other ways to demonstrate English language proficiency and gain entry into this program, including demonstrating prior study in English, or other qualifications. If your qualification does not meet the English language requirements then you will need to provide an English proficiency test for admission.

    The media landscape has been transformed over the past two decades with a significant switch from traditional to digital media. Opportunities still exist – and will always exist – for graduates looking for a career in print journalism, television, radio, web journalism, and photojournalism.

    With its focus on digital media skills and content creation, this degree also provides the ideal launching pad for careers in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The University’s underlying focus on entrepreneurship creates an incubator for graduates who are interested in launching and monetising their own media opportunities, such as blogging, vlogging, podcasting, social media influencing, data journalism, and multi-media / graphic design.

    Journalist and presenter

    Journalists write, create, edit, and present news content   for traditional and non-traditional outlets including websites, blogs, social media platforms, digital-only platforms, magazines, newspapers, radio and television. Seek (2021) projects a six per cent growth predicted over the next 5 years, with a median salary of $75k.

    Content creator / manager

    Content creators are often writers or journalists with a passion for unpacking complex topics and turning them into meaningful audience-centric content. Content managers write editorial articles, blogs, case studies, social media posts and stories, and are responsible for producing well-researched editorial and opinion pieces for publication and amplification on social media channels. Content manager salaries in Australia are advertised on Seek (2021) between $80k to $110k.

    Social media managers

    Social media managers are responsible for developing social media plans for individuals and organisations. They collaborate with business owners, product managers, agencies and influencers to plan and create content for social media distribution. According to Seek (2021), the projected job growth is 21 percent over the next 5 years, with a median salary of $90k.
