    About

    Students will study law, to appreciate the transformative power of law reform. They will study philosophy to understand and appreciate distinct worldviews, as well as how they clash and how they work together. Students will study economics and accounting so that they can appraise financial statements with an educated and informed eye and understand the practical economic consequences of policy and the potential of economic reform.

    Bond’s combined Bachelor of Policy, Philosophy and Economics and Bachelor of Laws is for those who want to make a meaningful contribution to society.

    The program draws on legal policy, government, philosophy, and economics themes to prepare graduates for a career in the legal profession, public governance, public leadership, and ultimately public influence.

    Encompassing subjects from the Faculty of Law, Bond Business School, and Faculty of Society & Design, this truly multi-disciplinary program will prepare adaptable students for the fast-paced global demands of the 21st century. The Bachelor of Laws is an approved degree for the purpose of admission to legal practice.

    During this degree you will study the global challenges faced by changing institutional and geo-political structures, search for practical solutions, draw on theory and history from economics, law, and international relations, all set within the context of dynamic and multicultural value systems and access world-class facilities like our multi-million-dollar Legal Skills Centre.

    General Secondary Education Certificate (Successful Completion) and required SAT score 1190

    Overall test score. Where multiple test results have been presented, the overall test result providing the best rank will be used.

    Bond's programs are taught and assessed in English, so depending on your educational background and citizenship, you may be required to provide evidence that your English language ability meets our requirements. There are other ways to demonstrate English language proficiency and gain entry into this program, including demonstrating prior study in English, or other qualifications. If your qualification does not meet the English language requirements then you will need to provide an English proficiency test for admission.

    This combined program has been designed to prepare students to stand out in future positions in the public sector, including opportunities to pursue a career in the legal profession, public service, politics, public policy institutes, advocacy groups and the not-for-profit sector.

    Outcomes

    Policy officer

    A policy officer provides analysis and advice on issues an organisation is concerned with, liaises with both internal and external networks of contacts, and develops policy relating to the rules and principles of the issues accordingly. Projected job growth of 4.9 per cent, with an average salary ranging between $85 to $120k according to Seek (2021).

    Legal research officer

    A legal research officer will oversee key parts of the legal reform by collecting important data to inform policy and practice in Australia. According to Seek (2021), roles like this are typically advertised between $90 to $119k.

    Public advocacy manager

    Public and advocacy managers spearhead change, develop, plan, and implement strategy for the short term and long-term policy landscape. Roles like this are typically advertised between $110 to $180k according to Seek (2021).

    Legal professional

    Upon being admitted to the legal profession, you can work as a solicitor in a law firm, a government organisation, in-house counsel, or a barrister (following the completion of the bar practice course).
