Understand the human mind to support the mental health of others

Meet the demand for caring professionals to support the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities. As healthcare changes and mental health awareness and understanding continue to grow, our graduates-backed by interprofessional collaborative teaching and learning-are ready to help create a healthier future for all, whichever path they choose.

The Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) will give you a thorough grounding in clinical, developmental, biological, cognitive, and social and organisational psychology. This degree will enable you to work towards a career as a psychologist, as well as other psychology-related fields in the health sector and beyond.

You'll learn how to use interpersonal skills and the principles of counselling to help people with personal, health, vocational and social difficulties. You will also learn how to apply psychological theories to topics such as thinking and perceiving, motivation, stress, health and group behaviour; evaluate and understand tests that measure intellectual, behavioural and emotional states; and use counselling skills, coaching and group facilitation skills, and behaviour change skills.

You'll learn from practising experts undertaking groundbreaking research in our Centre for Mental Health, paving the way for diverse and rewarding career opportunities. Our researchers are addressing key issues such as youth mental health, parenting and family interventions.

    From classroom to clinic

Put your skills into practice and support the community while you study through clinical placements, either at our on-campus clinics, or at one of the many leading healthcare clinics we partner with. This additional experience means you'll graduate ready to make a difference.
