About

Overview

The Bachelor of Science Advanced (Honours) is a four-year program offered in partnership with a select list of Indian universities.

Please note this program is only available to international students and requires two years of study at a partner institution in India.

The degree integrates the four major disciplines of science (mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology) into a common unified curriculum for two years – taken in India – followed by a diverse choice of majors from science, technology, engineering and health sciences and an advanced specialised year of study which includes a minor research thesis. The final two years of study are completed in Melbourne.

Students will be equipped with a range of knowledge and skills to enhance and extend their science studies. The degree will provide flexible pathways to employment, research higher degrees and many professional postgraduate programs.

Students must first qualify for entry and commence study in the degree with a recognised partner institution. To progress to the final two years in Melbourne, you will need to meet academic requirements in your first two years of study in India.

Entry Requirements

In India

Students enter the program through partner institutions in India, commencing with a Bachelor of Science. The selection for this program is based on the students' results in Year 12 in India. Students must have completed Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics to be prepared for comprehensive first and second year in science.

In Australia

To continue with the dual degree students must complete first 200 points of study in the BSc(Blended) with an equivalent WAM of 70 and satisfy the University of Melbourne undergraduate English language requirement.

Complete two years of studies in the Indian partner university with a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 70 per cent.
Academic transcripts for three semesters plus a predicted result for the 4th semester or completion letter for the last semester of studies.

In order to progress to the University of Melbourne, applicants must have:

Want to work in the environmental space? Move on to a Master of Environmental Science, Master of Environment, Master of Geography , or Master of Ecosystem Management and Conservation.
Looking to deepen your science expertise? We have seven specialisations in the Master of Science suite: Bioinformatics, BioSciences, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Epidemiology, Mathematics and Statistics and Physics.
For further study in engineering systems, you can continue on to a Master of Engineering.
If you study life sciences, you can go on to the Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Dental Surgery, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Doctor of Physiotherapy or Master of Biotechnology.
If you pursue mathematics or computer science, you can go on to the Master of Data Science or Master of Information Technology.
You can also take your science background to pursue qualifications in law (Juris Doctor), education (Master of Teaching), or social and political science (Master of Development Studies, Master of Social Policy, or Master of Public Policy and Management).

Eligibility for these programs will depend on your chosen major and completed prerequisites. Students will be eligible for between 50–75 credit points of advanced standing towards a cognate masters degree.

You may be eligible for a guaranteed place in some of our graduate degrees. After completing a Bachelor of Science, you’ll also be eligible to apply for a range of graduate degrees at other universities.
