    About

    Completing the Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) at CQUniversity will equip you with valuable skills to enable you to work with people of all ages who have communication or swallowing difficulties. Your education and training will include a broad range of disciplines such as psychology, medical sciences and linguistics and phonetics, designed to ensure you graduate work-ready.

    Completing placements in a variety of practice settings during your studies will enable you to gain valuable practical experience before you enter the workforce. This includes being part of a multidisciplinary team at the purpose-built Allied Health Clinic at CQUniversity Rockhampton where you will learn alongside students from other disciplines including occupational therapy, physiotherapy and oral health.

    On completion of this course, you will graduate with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) qualification. As part of your final year of study, you will be required to complete a research project on a topic relevant to speech pathology.

    Accredited professional psychology pathway

    This course is an accredited three-year psychology degree with the Australia Psychology Accreditation Council, preparing you for further study in psychology.

    Unique graduate entry course

    The course is designed if you have an existing bachelor degree and allows for credit for some of your past studies. If you do not have an existing degree, you will need to enrol in the Bachelor of Psychological Science.

    Practically oriented course design

    Our psychology courses are taught by a teaching team with diverse and extensive psychological experience from practising clinical psychologists, to avid psychology researchers, all of whom are dedicated to sharing their knowledge and perspectives with you. Our undergraduate psychology courses have been designed to integrate professional development opportunities including project work, placement opportunities, and group tasks.

    Entry Requirements

    To be eligible for entry into this course, applicants must hold:

    • A completed Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) equivalent 3 year Bachelor degree.

    English Language Proficiency Requirements

    If you were not born in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa or United States of America, you are required to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements set by the University.

    Applicants are required to provide evidence of completion of:

    • A secondary qualification (Year 11 and 12, or equivalent), or
    • An Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) diploma level qualification, or
    • Bachelor level qualification study for a period of at least 2 years fulltime with a minimum overall GPA 4.0

    completed within Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, South Africa, Ireland, or United States of America, which will meet the English proficiency.

    If you do not satisfy any of the above, you will need to undertake an English language proficiency test and achieve the following scores:

    • An International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic) overall band score of at least 6.0 with a minimum 5.5 in each subset; or
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Requires 550 or better overall and minimum TWE score of 4.5 (Paper Based Test), or 75 or better overall and no score less than 17 (Internet Based Test); or
    • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Requires an overall score of 54 with no sub-score less than 46; or
    • An Occupational English Test with Grades A or B only in each of the four components.

    English test results remain valid for no more than two years between final examination date and the date of commencement of study, and must appear on a single result certificate.

    Each student will be assessed individually.

    English Program Requirements

    If you don’t meet our English language entry requirements and need to improve your English language proficiency, you can do so through our approved English Language Instruction Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS) providers. This means that you can attend the required English language tuition at approved ELICOS providers and gain direct entry into university without an IELTS or TOEFL test.
