An interdisciplinary approach lays a wide foundation across business, mathematics and computer science.
This heavily quantitative program, jointly housed in the departments of Computer Science and Mathematics of the Bellarmine College of Arts and Sciences, provides 37 hours of instruction for the major as well as 10 hours of prerequisites and cognate courses.
Bellarmines collaboration with the Future of Work Initiative provides opportunities for internships and other opportunities for experiential learning.
After completing the Bachelor of Science in Data Science at Bellarmine University, graduates should be able to:
- Choose suitable statistical and machine learning algorithms for analyzing large data sets to answer specific questions or perform predictive analytics.
- Obtain and appropriately manipulate data sets to prepare them for analysis.
- Develop appropriate visualizations to describe and explain large data sets.
- Use multiple programming languages to build machine learning and predictive analytics solutions.
- Interpret the results of data analysis.
- Present the results of data analysis, orally, visually or in written format.
