    The Bachelor of Sport and Active Recreation equips you with the necessary skills to apply yourself as a professional in a range of sport and active recreation careers. You'll develop an understanding of the impact of sport and physical activity in the context of a healthy lifestyle and gain a strong knowledge base in areas including sport coaching, sport development and active communities.

    The versatile program of study allows students to choose a major in Applied Sports Science, Outdoor Education, Sports Business and Active & Healthy Communities. Pursue one of these majors to explore an area of specialised interest and focus your future career, or choose your own adventure and discover areas you're particularly passionate about as you study.

    Please note students studying the Applied Sports Science major at the Flinders City Campus in 2025 will be required to attend some classes at the Bedford Park campus.

    The Outdoor Education major is not available for study at Flinders City Campus in 2025. Please apply for the Bachelor of Sport and Active Recreation (Bedford Park) (245021) if you wish to study Outdoor Education.

    Entry Requirements

    If you don’t meet our English language entry requirements and need to improve your English language proficiency, you can do so through Flinders University Academy – or our approved English Language Instruction Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS) providers.

    This means that you can attend the required English language tuition at approved ELICOS providers and gain direct entry into university without an IELTS or TOEFL test.

    If you don’t meet our academic entry requirements, you can still gain entry to Flinders University through Flinders University Academy. With a range of diplomas, foundation and English language courses, students can find a direct pathway into the destination degree of their choice.

    The Bachelor of Sport and Active Recreation will prepare graduates for a career in the sport development, sport coaching, active recreation, and sport industries, and may provide a pathway to further studies in physical education teaching through the Master of Teaching courses.

    Professional accreditation/recognition

    Students successfully completing two option topics from the Applied Sport Science topics are eligible for Australian Strength and Conditioning Association level one accreditation.

    You can apply to study at Flinders University via an authorised agent in your country, or you may submit your application yourself. Refer to Step 4 to see if you need an Education Agent to assist with your application.

    Obtain certified documents

    All academic documentation submitted to Flinders electronically must be certified. We also require certified copies of passports for applicants from some countries. Original documentation may be submitted by post or in person, but we are unable to guarantee return of these original documents.

    Persons authorised to certify documents within Australia include:

    • a Justice of the Peace (currently registered in Australia)
    • a barrister or solicitor
    • a police officer
    • an employee of Australia Post
    • a Flinders International staff member
    • an official Flinders University agent.

    Persons authorised to certify documents outside Australia include:

    • an Australian Embassy official or Australian Consular official
    • the registrar of the university that issued the transcript or parchment
    • a Flinders University staff member
    • an official Flinders University agent
    • a Notary Public (excluding India and Nepal).

    Flinders University will send you and/or your agent an email confirming we have received your application.

    The email will contain your Flinders University Application Number and you should take special note of this as you will need to quote this in any correspondence while your application is being assessed.
