    Develop internationally relevant vineyard management skills with extensive studies of viticulture, vine physiology, vine pests and diseases, and water and soil management.

  • Ground your vineyard management in scientific evidence

    You’ll underpin your viticulture and wine science studies with a scientific background in chemistry, plant sciences, soil science and data handling. Develop knowledge in the chemical and biological processes that affect grape production.. You’ll also gain the skills to understand site selection, grapevine varieties, propagation, vineyard establishment and management, irrigation and plant protection.

    Entry Requirements

    A completed High School Certificate with an ATAR of 60 (including adjustment factors) or equivalent.
    OR
    A completed Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) with an equivalent ranking to the currently listed ATAR
    OR
    A completed AQF Certificate III or higher level qualification.
    OR
    50% completion of an AQF Diploma level qualification.
    OR
    A completed Tertiary Preparation Course from an Australian University or an accredited provider demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies.
    OR
    Successful completion of two university level subjects (AQF level Associate Degree or higher) demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies.
    AND

    NOTE
    Successful applicants who do not have an appropriate high school background in chemistry or mathematics are strongly recommended to undertake Introductory Chemistry (SSS010) and Maths Skills 2 - Intermediate A & B (SSS072 & SSS073) in the University's Study Link program prior to commencing study in the course.

    This course contains workplace learning components requiring access to winery or basic winemaking and analysis equipment for the production of a wine (WSC202), access to a vineyard, preferably commercial, to develop a vineyard management portfolio (VIT407) and a four-week placement in a commercial vineyard, winery or wine business (AHT274).

    English Program Requirements

    1. providing evidence of having completed a sufficient standard of study in English
    2. have obtained an Academic IELTS within the last 2 years with:
      1. a minimum overall score of 6
      2. no individual score below 5.5
    3. obtaining a qualification deemed to be equivalent to Academic IELTS (and its minimum scores) by Charles Sturt.
