The Bachelor of Arts program in Culture and Economy consists of a major and a combination major.
The core subject, English and American Studies, looks at aspects of literature, culture and language from the English-speaking world. Through courses in Literary Studies, students learn the basic principles of scientific literary analysis. Courses on culture focus on the cultural history of Great Britain and the USA, and involve the analysis, for example, of films, music, advertisements, and articles. Students also study Linguistics (including the theories and methods of language acquisition and development, and multilingualism) and receive language instruction.
You can choose to study Business Administration or Economics as a combination major. If you choose Business Administration, you can attend courses on finance, marketing, management, business informatics, accounting, and production. Students can attend seminars to specialize in business ethics. If you study Economics as your combination major, you will learn about statistics and gain an insight in microeconomics and macroeconomics. A further focus is placed on economic history.
