    About

Improve your employment prospects and broaden your skills and knowledge by combining your Bachelor of Agricultural Science with an Agribusiness program.

This four-year dual program will develop your business skills and deep scientific expertise to prepare you for a career in the agriculture sector in Australia and overseas. You'll study the scientific and managerial principles required to help commercial farmers sustainably increase their output of food and fibre with the least environmental and social impact.

Under the Agribusiness program, you'll learn about marketing, finance, people management and technology along the agrifood value chain, and study business courses in accounting, economics and market research.

For the Agricultural Science component of your program, you'll specialise in Agronomy, Animal Science or Horticulture, and graduate ready to enter the workforce in innovative management positions.

During your studies, you'll benefit from interacting with industry representatives, undertaking professional placements or internships and the Summer Research Scholarships program.

This Agribusiness program has been developed in close and ongoing collaboration with the international and Australian agricultural sector to prepare you for a career in global agriculture. You'll be taught by internationally ranked business experts, ensuring you receive the most relevant, up-to-date knowledge and practical experience.

At UQ, degrees are called 'programs' and subjects are called 'courses'.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    Qualification

To be offered a place in an undergraduate program, you need to have successfully completed Queensland Year 12, or a qualification equivalent to Queensland Year 12, with the required minimum entry score for the program you're interested in studying.

You may also be considered if you have studied a diploma, advanced diploma, or a year or more of tertiary study.

    Minimum entry score

A minimum entry score is the lowest score you need to achieve to be considered for a place in a program.

This score is displayed in different ways, depending on the studies you have completed:

Australian Year 12, International Baccalaureate or New Zealand NCEA studies

You must achieve the required ATAR score, Queensland rank or IB score for your preferred UQ program if you are currently studying:

    • Australian Year 12 (or equivalent)
    • International Baccalaureate, or
    • National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 3 in New Zealand.
International studies equivalent to Australian Year 12

If you're currently completing your senior schooling overseas, you must achieve the equivalent of the required entry score for your preferred UQ program.

    Non-school leavers

If you’re not a current school leaver, we’ll assess your application based on any study you have completed since finishing high school.

    Prerequisites

Some undergraduate programs have subject prerequisites – specific subjects you must have studied to gain admission. Prerequisites help ensure that you have an appropriate level of subject area knowledge when you start the program.

Subject prerequisites are listed as Queensland Year 12 General subjects, but you may be able to meet them if you've studied equivalent subjects at an interstate or overseas high school, at university or through a bridging program.

Some programs also have recommended knowledge areas. These aren't compulsory, but we recommend them to ensure you're in the best possible position to understand program material.

If you’re not currently studying Year 12 (or equivalent), your application will be assessed to determine whether you have met the required prerequisites.

    How to Apply

    Step 1: Create an account

Create an account in UQ Online Applications.

If you can't access UQ Online Applications, email [email protected] to request a hard-copy form. We charge a non-refundable fee of A$150 if you use a hard-copy form.

    Step 2: Complete your application

Complete all details on the application form and include all required documents. You can save an incomplete form and return later.

On your application, let us know if:

    • you would like to apply for an English language pathway package
    • you want to arrange your Overseas Student Health Cover through UQ.

    You'll need to provide:

    • a complete academic transcript and/or testamurs for any non-UQ studies
    • a copy of your passport or national ID card
    • documentation demonstrating your English language proficiency.

Upload documents as PDFs to reduce their file size.

    Your academic transcript should detail:

    • all of the courses you studied
    • any degrees or diplomas you were awarded.

You only need to submit an academic transcript for non-UQ programs.

Provide a certified copy of your transcript as soon as it is available. Transcripts can be certified at a Student Centre, by an approved UQ agent, or by other appropriate parties.

Don't send original documents. We're not able to return them.

If you're waiting to complete your studies

If you're waiting for a transcript or your current results, you can submit your application with a note stating when your transcript is likely to be available. Forward a certified copy of your transcript as soon as you receive it.

When you forward your transcript, you need to clearly:

    • mark it with your UQ student number (if you know it), family name, first name, date of birth, and the UQ program you have applied for
    • state that you have already submitted an application.

    Step 3: Submit your application

When you're satisfied your application is complete, submit it.

You'll need to pay a A$100 fee for each application you submit. This fee can't be refunded.

    Closing dates

Make sure you submit your application by the closing date:

    • Semester 1: 30 November of the previous year
    • Semester 2: 31 May of the same year.

Some programs have different closing dates – these will be listed on the program page.

We may consider late applications, but this can't be guaranteed.

    UQ College courses

For all UQ College English courses, including the Bridging English (BE) program, the deadline to apply, accept your offer and pay tuition fees, is 4 weeks before the course start date. UQ College cannot guarantee that places will be available after the deadline. Late applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis.

    Step 4: Manage your application

UQ International Admissions will assess your application. They will contact you through UQ Online Applications with any updates or requests for additional information.

If you didn't apply through UQ Online Applications, UQ International Admissions will contact you by email.

After you've submitted your application, you can log in to My Applications to:
