    Bachelors Teacher Training Course for Technical Education (Bachelor of Science)

    About

    The degree programme involves earning 92 credit points in the chosen vocational subject area, 48 credit points in the teaching subject and 25 credit points in the professional skills development area. The professional skills development area consists of earning 15 credit points in Vocational and Business Education and 10 credit points in Key Transferable Skills. Students complete four weeks of practical training in Vocational and Business Education.

    In addition to having an interest in the chosen vocational subject area and teaching subject, prospective students should enjoy interacting with people, and should be empathetic, open to criticism and able to reflect on their actions.

    Admission Requirements

    Some subjects in the Bachelor Teacher Training Course for Technical Education are restricted: English Studies (school subject: English), Food Science, German Studies (school subject: German), Politics, Spanish Studies, Sports.

    Some subjects in the Bachelor Teacher Training Course for Technical Education are admission-free: Catholic Religious Education, Chemistry, Colour Technology and Interior Decoration, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Metals Technology, Physics, Plant Operations and Manufacturing of Wood Products, Protestant Religious Education and Site Engineering.

    Application dates for a subject combination with at least one restricted subject:

    First-year students
    (Application for the first semester is only possible for the winter semester)
    • Applicants from Germany and other EU countries: June 1st July 15th of the year
    • Applicants from outside the European Union: April 15th May 31st of the year (application via uni-assist)
    Students resuming their studies and transfer students (application in a higher semester)
    • Everyone: June 1st July 15th of the year for the winter semester
    • Everyone: December 1st - January 15th of the year for the summer semester

    The Bachelors degree in Technical Education does not entitle graduates to teach at vocational schools this is only possible after completing the relevant Masters Teacher Training Course for Technical Education.

    The Bachelors degree in Technical Education qualifies graduates to enter a profession in areas such as vocational education and training, for example for associations, chambers of industry or chambers of crafts and trades.

    How to Apply

    You can use our online application portal to enrol any time between 1 June and 30 September. To be able to do this, you will need a qualification for admission to higher education. At the end of the online application, you will automatically be forwarded to a cover letter (the so-called application for enrollment). Sign this application for enrollment (handwritten or digital) and put it together with the required documents into one PDF document, which you can then upload using the upload link provided. The required documents include your qualification for admission to higher education (e.g. Abitur) and any other supporting documents such as practical training certificates or evidence of language proficiency. We also need proof of your health insurance and evidence that you have paid the semester fee. At the end of the online application, all required documents are listed and must be uploaded as a scan of the original documents by September 30th, 11:59 p.m. Please do not forget to upload your photo for the LeibnizCard . You can find information on this in the application for enrollment at the end of the online application. In September, you will receive your enrolment documents, an invitation to the welcome event for new students and information about any preparatory courses that may be offered. Please note that some degree programmes offer preparatory courses well before term starts.
