    About

    Do you have aspirations to start your own baking business, or perhaps become a chocolatier or patissier? If you have a background in baking and want to continue developing your skills and knowledge for a range of roles in the industry, our Bakery and Patisserie Technology top-up degree course will help you to further pursue your career ambitions. This course is designed for anyone who has previously studied a relevant subject (up to Level 5) and will enhance your understanding of practical bakery subjects, while also focusing on the technical and managerial skills required to be successful in the industry. You will critically evaluate technology and current food nutrition trends related to bakery and patisserie products. Our bakery top-up course provides a unique opportunity for you to research a live project with industry support. You will also have access to our industry standard bakeries and kitchen facilities on campus, as well as our state-of-the-art Food Science and Innovation Suite, helping you to boost your scientific and technological understanding of the baking industry. Whats more, our fantastic connections with major bakery and confectionery organisations will provide you with a range of industry-related visits, expert guest lectures and further work opportunities.

    Entry Requirements

    Applicants holding 'A' Level Certificates will be considered against the standard UCAS tariff for any Undergraduate Degree programme applied for.

    Applicants holding the International Baccalaureate with a minimum score of 24 will be considered against the standard UCAS tariff for any Undergraduate Degree programme applied for.

    Those holding (Community College Diploma) in a relevant subject may be considered for advanced entry.

    English Program Requirements

    To apply for all undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, you will need to sit an approved test in English if it is not your first language. This might include achieving IELTS (Academic or UKVI) of 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band, depending on your course requirements.

    In addition, we accept Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) 72 with minimum band scores of Reading 18, Writing 17, Listening 17, Speaking 20 for Undergraduate (BA, BSc) and most postgraduate degrees.

    If you are applying for the International Foundation Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism, you will need UKVI IELTS of 5.0 with no less than 4.5 in any band.

    IELTS can be taken from the British Council. Please note that the date of your IELTS award must be within two years of your degree/master’s degree start date.

    We also accept the following online tests for entry onto degree-level courses:

    • TOEFL (iBT) Home – minimum scores as above
    • Language Cert - a minimum of 'pass' at B2 level
    • IELTS Indicator - minimum scores as above
