    You'll develop a solid knowledge of trading and investment management.

    This course provides you with the skills to critically analyse and interpret economic and financial information, and numerical data. Real-life exercises and applications develop the ability to research economic/financial data and use verbal, graphical, mathematical and statistical means to support arguments and to draw informed conclusions, while acknowledging and referencing of sources. You are encouraged to learn independently and collaborate in teams, adapting to challenges and opportunities, communicate and present quantitative and qualitative information, together with analysis, arguments and commentary, with empathy and inclusion.

    You'll also have access to our state-of-the-art Financial Markets Lab which includes the latest Bloomberg and DataStream finance software, and you'll be taught by module leaders with years of experience in finance, including in Fintech.

    Additionally, you could go on to further study on courses such as Banking and Finance MSc.

    This course equips you with a comprehensive understanding of finance and economic theories and their implementations to the financial services industry and wider economy.     This course has a strong focus on applied computational finance, and includes modules on machine learning, data science, and algorithm trading.     IELTS both online and paper-based exams accepted. Candidates can also re-sit a single component within 60 days of taking their test through IELTS OneSkill. MDX will accept certificates with a OneSKill retake component

    Work placements

    We offer a twelve-month placement at the end of year two (Thick Sandwich mode). Alternatively, you can opt for two smaller placements over the years one and two of the course including the summers between your years of study (Thin Sandwich Mode).

    A dedicated employability advisor will help you in the search for an employer who can provide you with an appropriate placement. They will also provide you with guidance and support in preparation for, as well as during and after the placement.

    The placement forms the basis for an assessed report based on the organisation.

    At the start of the placement, you will be allocated an individual supervisor who provides support and advice for the duration of the project. You will be supported throughout the course through a series of award-winning talks, workshops and engagement with professional bodies and employers.
