Our Bar, Cocktail and Professional Service college course will provide you with essential training and real-world experience to give you the ideal start to your hospitality career journey. This Level 2 course covers food service waiter/waitressing skills, bar tending, customer care and entry level cocktails, all taught by highly experienced and passionate industry experts. Serving real guests in our award-winning Restaurant at Birmingham College of Food and cocktail bar, you will develop a combination of soft and technical skills that will enable you to deliver outstanding customer care.     Take your first step into the world of hospitality. This Level 2 course will get you started on learning the essentials of bar tending, cocktails and customer service while serving real guests in our training restaurant, preparing you for further study and future careers.

    Entry Requirements

    Applicants holding 'A' Level Certificates will be considered against the standard UCAS tariff for any Undergraduate Degree programme applied for.

    Applicants holding the International Baccalaureate with a minimum score of 24 will be considered against the standard UCAS tariff for any Undergraduate Degree programme applied for.

    Those holding (Community College Diploma) in a relevant subject may be considered for advanced entry.

    English Program Requirements

    To apply for all undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, you will need to sit an approved test in English if it is not your first language. This might include achieving IELTS (Academic or UKVI) of 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band, depending on your course requirements.

    In addition, we accept Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) 72 with minimum band scores of Reading 18, Writing 17, Listening 17, Speaking 20 for Undergraduate (BA, BSc) and most postgraduate degrees.

    If you are applying for the International Foundation Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism, you will need UKVI IELTS of 5.0 with no less than 4.5 in any band.

    IELTS can be taken from the British Council. Please note that the date of your IELTS award must be within two years of your degree/master’s degree start date.

    We also accept the following online tests for entry onto degree-level courses:

    • TOEFL (iBT) Home – minimum scores as above
    • Language Cert - a minimum of 'pass' at B2 level
    • IELTS Indicator - minimum scores as above

    Career

    On completion of the Level 2, you could progress onto our Mixology, Advanced Wine, Supervision and Events Level 3 course, or you could pursue a range of employment opportunities within the industry.
