    About

    This certificate provides students with a basic understanding of accounting principles and practices and the fundamental bookkeeping skills employees need.
    1. Create and analyze basic accounting statement and budgeting tools
    2. Use QuickBooks to provide useful reports to help business owners make knowledgeable financial decisions
    3. Improve workplace communication by applying non-verbal, listening, relationship-building, public speaking, persuasion, and other interpersonal communication skills
    4. Create professional spreadsheets using advanced functionality to visualize and solve business problems
    5. Depending on elective choice, report and describe production decisions of consumers and businesses in a market economy or provide insights on the legal system, contracts, ethics, intellectual property, antitrust, employment, business organizations, and securities

    English Program Requirements

    The TOEFL iBT is the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Internet-based test (iBT). The TOEFL exam is administered by the Educational Testing Service numerous times each year throughout the world. For more information about testing centers,  access the TOEFL Web site. BYU-Idaho only accepts the TOEFL iBT, TOEFL iBT Home Edition, and TOEFL iBT Paper Edition. The TOEFL revised paper-based test will only be accepted through April 2023. Scores from the TOEFL Essentials, TOEFL PBT (paper-based test), and other versions will not be considered.

    The IELTS is the International English Language Testing System. The IELTS is administered numerous times each year throughout the world. For more information about testing times and locations, visit the IELTS page.

    The PTE is the Pearsons Test of English. Applicants who choose to take this exam must take the PTE Academic Exam, not just the Pearsons Test of English.  You may obtain more information on the Pearson page.

    How to Apply

    1. Begin Application
      This can be done online by clicking on the apply now button to the left

      Complete and submit the application before the following deadlines:

    2. Deposit
      Pay your deposit.  For more information on the deposit please see the  Finances page.
    3. Mail I-20 Document
      We will send you your immigration form I-20. This form is used to apply for your F-1 visa and to enter the country.
    4. Pay SEVIS I901 Fee
      I-901 online at  www.fmjfee.com and pay the USD $350 fee for an F-1 visa or USD $220 fee for a J-1 visa at least 3 days prior your visa appointment or arriving at the U.S. border (Canadians).
    5. Go to U.S. Embassy for F-1 VISA
      • You will have to schedule an appointment with the U.S. Embassy to receive your F-1 Visa.
      • Take the I-901 Receipt of payment with you.
      • Canadians do not need to apply for a visa, it is waived at the border
    6. Arrive at School
      You may enter the U.S. a maximum of 30 days prior to the start of school as listed in part 5 on page one of your I-20.
    7. Check-in
      Be sure to check in with International Services within two weeks of the start of school.
