    The BEng in Aeronautical Engineering is designed to help you solve real world problems and develop new industrially-relevant solutions.  The programme aims to provide you with a stimulating learning environment for understanding the role of the engineer; understanding mechatronics and related engineering sectors, whilst enhancing your skillset to deal with issues in product design engineering. 
     
    On this course you will gain extensive knowledge and understanding of the most up to date theories and hands-on work in within sustainability, aerodynamics, design engineering, mechanical systems and related wider engineering sector.

    The programme will enable you to plan, execute and undertake critical analysis of results of practical and/or simulation tests within mechatronics engineering context. 

    Finally it will provide you with the experience to demonstrate self-direction and originality in solving problems, and act autonomously in planning and implementing tasks at a professional level with clear understanding of health and safety, ethics, sustainability and legal dimensions. 

    The mechatronics programme combines principles from aerodynamics, electronics, control and sustainability to design, manufacture, testing safety, management and efficiencies with aeronautical and air transport context.

    Whilst on the course you will gain knowledge of engineering processes and systems, product design, digital electronics and integration of these technologies. 

    The aim is to provide a programme of study for aeronautical engineers of sufficient width and depth to meet the demands of your profession and to enable you to progress to the status of Chartered Engineer as well.

    A specific aim of the programme is to promote an active interest in engineering and to encourage you to respond to changes and developments within sustainability, aerodynamics, design engineering, mechanical systems and related wider engineering sector.

    Entry Requirements

    • Tawjihi: 60% for Foundation
    • 3 x AS Levels: Foundation
    • US High School Diploma: GPA 2.0 for Foundation
    • US High School Diploma: GPA 3.0 + SAT1 1070 for Direct Entry to Bachelor's
    • International Baccalaureate (IB): 25 points with minimum 15 at Higher Level for Direct Entry to Bachelor's
    • 3 x A Levels: Direct Entry to Bachelor's

    The programme, offers hands-on modules, reinforced with strong emphasis on employability via our mental wealth integration strategy into every module. Alongside this, we have very close links with major employers, and our industrial advisory board is already guiding us to further ensure that you are employable in the engineering and related sectors. 

    The programme is designed using the Engineering Council's attributes of Chartered Engineer. This ensures the core skills required for the 21st century, are well-integrated into the programme's curriculum. The programme offers hands-on modules reinforced with a strong emphasis on employability via our mental wealth integration strategy into every module. Alongside this, we have very close links with major employers, and our industrial advisory board is already guiding us to further ensure our students are employable in the engineering and related sectors.

    We are thrilled to announce that our international scholarships for September 2022 have been approved and successful award winners are being notified. The is no need to re-apply for another scholarship as your eligibility will be automatically assessed at time of offer. 

    If you are an applicant, you need to ensure that you have submitted a complete application, (including your personal statement and supporting documents) and we will assess your application against our internal criteria.

    Scholarships range between £1,000 and £5,000 - off your first year's tuition fees- (depending on your course  programme). If you receive an offer of a place and are assessed as eligible for an international scholarship, the amount of the award will be indicated in your offer letter. 

    International Scholarships are issued at  the University's discretion and are only available to overseas, fee-paying, offer holders studying on an undergraduate or postgraduate taught programme. Different programmes may attract different amounts and it should be noted that not all applicants will be successful.

    International Scholarships are not available for:  

    • Short courses or exchange/study abroad programmes
    • Franchised programmes
    • Pre-Masters programmes
    • International foundation programmes
    • Pre-sessional English programmes
