    Biochemistry

    About

    The biochemistry major at Utica University gives students a solid understanding of the fundamental building blocks of life, preparing them for fulfilling careers in a field on the leading edge of human knowledge. Supported by exceptional faculty and advanced instrumentation, the program is modeled on a course of study recommended by the American Chemical Society.

    The biochemistry major offers core study in chemistry that will lay the foundation for a future in biotechnology, biochemistry, and medicine. The integrated curriculum includes: general, organic, and physical chemistry; research methods; and quantitative analysis. In addition, UC biochemistry students have the opportunity make significant contributions to ongoing research and pursue independent research projects of their own.

    Entry Requirements

    • A completed online application and personal statement
    • After completing the online portion of your application, please send the following documents to [email protected]:
       
      1. Official transcripts (mark sheets) of all secondary and post secondary academic work along with an explanation of the grading system (in English)
      2. Tests of English language proficiency, if English is not your first language. Utica University requires one of the following:
         
        • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 550 written, 213 computer-based, 79-80 internet-based;
        • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0; or
        • Duolingo English Test (DET) score of 100
           
      3. One letter of recommendation
      4. Offical examination results for school finishing or leaving examinations
      5. Copy of Passport
         
    • SAT (I or II) or ACT scores are not required for undergraduate applicants except for the following majors: Nursing, Physical Therapy, and Occupational Therapy
    • Although a decision on your application can be made without financial documents, Utica University cannot issue you immigration documents necessary to obtain your visa until we receive the following completed documents from you:
       
      • International Student Data Sheet
      • International Student Certification of Finances form
      • A signed letter from a bank official stating that sufficient funds (at least $38,078) exist to cover the total cost of attendance. Any scholarship award can be applied.
    • complete at least 16 units of secondary school credit and
    • receive a diploma from an accredited secondary school.

    English Program Requirements
