Biology

The Department of Biological Sciences offers a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science in Biology. These two degrees provide flexibility so students can customize course work to meet their individual interests and career goals.

The Bachelor of Arts in Biology is an ideal degree for students interested in gaining a broad background in the Biological Sciences. It requires four semesters of a foreign language and a minor. There are several minors to choose from which gives you flexibility to design a well-rounded education.

The Bachelor of Science in Biology provides a strong foundation in science while allowing you to focus on a specific biology sub-discipline*. This degree will prepare you for nearly any science-related field. The BS is ideal for students that are seeking a career as a professional biologist in industry or government, or plan to apply to graduate school or to a professional program like medical or dental school.

*The available sub-disciplines are general biology, zoology, botany, cell and molecular biology, and biotechnology.

1. Complete an online application and pay the $90 non-refundable application fee.
   Alternatively, you may pay later by mailing a check (address below) or pay through the SHSU Self Service Center.

2. Send secondary school or high school academic records (transcripts, mark sheets, graduation certificate) in a sealed envelope to the following address:

   Depending on your country of origin, an advisor may contact you about specific academic records required.

3. Submit a third party transcript evaluation -Official evaluation of high school transcript from SDR Education (www.sdreducational.org) and NACES member agencies (www.naces.org).
