    The BSc (Hons) Biology curriculum emphasizes the connectivity of life across all levels of biological complexity. All module options maintain a strong evolutionary approach throughout the degree. The course fosters intellectual curiosity, academic integrity, and critical thinking, and will prepare students well for progression into graduate employment or to further study.

    Academic Qualifications

    • Applicants who have completed a Diploma of Technician / Technical Diploma in a relevant subject can be considered for year 1 entry of an undergraduate degree
    • Applicants who have followed the IB Diploma curriculum can be considered for undergraduate entry – the normal UCAS tariff will be applied
    • Applicants who have followed the A-Level curriculum can be considered for undergraduate entry – the normal UCAS tariff will be applied

    Undergraduate Advanced Entry

    Students who have completed a 2 year Diploma or Associate Degree from a recognised institution can be considered for advanced entry onto the 2nd year of an undergraduate degree programme

    English language requirements

    International applicants will need to have achieved an overall of IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component/TOEFL 72 overall and a minimum of 18 in reading, 17 in listening, 20 in speaking and 17 in writing or equivalent.

    There is high demand for Biology graduates, who have the skills needed to tackle some of society’s most pressing challenges. Biology graduates are well suited for work in policy (government or non-profits), in industry (biotechnology or pharmaceuticals), health care, education, ecology, and conservation

    Possible career paths

    Graduates of our biology degree have found employment in a range of fields, including environmental consultancy, hospital laboratories, the food and drink industry, and teaching. Many biology undergraduates progress to MSc courses in the biological sciences. You may also choose a postgraduate research programme, such as a Masters by Research or a PhD.
