    Biomedical Engineering

    About

    CETA students strive to innovate the future, and our biomedical engineering program will prepare you to go above and beyond in the healthcare field. Our diversified curriculum exposes students to subjects related to: 
    • Biomechanics - Bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, etc.
    • Biofluids - Blood flow, heart valves, airflow in the lungs, etc.
    • Bioinstrumentation - The instruments and sensors used to measure physiological systems.
    Students will discover how to design and build biomedical equipment and devices for diagnosing medical problems and improving health for those in need.

    If you have a passion for science and mathematics, this program is for you. CETA biomedical engineering students will understand aspects of examining people, evaluating health, and recognizing what technology and opportunities are available to improve patient quality of life. Our immersive courses offer students many opportunities to creatively express ideas and develop potential new devices and methods to improve current healthcare technologies.
    The Biomedical Engineering program has three options that all have a strong foundation in traditional engineering, with basic engineering courses required prior to biomedical coursework.

    Submit your Academic Records

    We will begin our admission review on the basis of an electronic (scanned) copy of your academic records. However, your admission will not be final until we receive the official transcript/record from each high school (secondary school) you have attended.

    Important: All transcripts presented in a language other than English must include a translation. The official academic records must be mailed in a separate sealed envelope. Please request that an official copy of your official records be sent to one of the addresses below (electronic or hard-copy):

    How to Obtain your UHart I-20

    To create your UHart I-20 you are required to provide the following:

    1. Bank Statement from your parent's bank indicating a balance equal to or greater than the cost of attendance for the University for one academic year. This figure can be presented in local currency or US Dollars. 
    2. Financial Sponsorship Certification Form–Please complete and return this form with your bank statement. 
    3. Pay your Enrollment Deposit 
    4. I-20 Request form Please complete scan and return. 
    5. *SEVIS I-20 Transfer Request form - Please complete, scan and return.
    6. Copy of your Passport - Please scan and return. 
    7. * Copy of US Visa - Please scan and return. 

    *These forms are required ONLY if you already have a valid visa and are studying in the US. If you do not currently hold the US Visa they are NOT required to get the UHart I-20.

    You may send these prior to the review of your application or following your notice of admission.

    Upon receipt of these forms, we will create your form I-20. 

    Provide your Level of English Language Proficiency

    Alternative methods for proving English proficiency

    • Successful completion of English Composition at a regionally accredited College or University in the United States with a grade of C or higher. Must be a traditional in class format online classes NOT accepted.
    • International Baccalaureate: English A1 or A2 with grade of 3 or higher
    • Advanced Placement English with a grade of 3 or higher
    • SAT Evidence based reading/writing 480 or higher
    • GCSE or GCE English Pass (syllabus A) with grade of A, B or C
    • A HKCEE English Pass with a grade of (Syllabus A) with a grade of A, B, C or D
    • Trinity ISE II Level: Pass in All module areas
    • CEFR Level B2+ Pre advanced

    If you intend to pursue a degree at the University of Hartford but you do not meet our English language proficiency requirements, you have the option of starting your degree within the International Pathway Program (IPP).

    Our biomedical engineering program is designed to prepare you for career success.

    Along with rigorous academic training, you will gain hands-on experience throughout your time as a student. You will present your work to your peers and instructors, as well as to the public, and because our faculty work closely with leading health-related institutions and industries, you have opportunities to work on research projects and participate in internships.

    Our graduates go on to work at companies like Stryker, Flex, Hartford Healthcare, and Medtronic.
