About

Overview We offer a master degree in Biomedical Informatics at the Oregon Health & Science University. There is growing overlap among the two tracks, and they have several courses and electives in common; however, students are expected to select one of the tracks as their primary focus.Key Features Translational bioinformatics is defined as the development of analytic, storage, and interpretive methods to optimize the transformation of the increasingly voluminous genetic, genomic, and biological data into diagnostics and therapeutics for medicine. With recognition that a key component of this translation is computational biology, the underlying algorithmic and quantitative framework, we have created the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology track. Oregon Health & Science University's Biomedical Informatics Graduate Program offers degrees at the graduate certificate, master's and PhD level. Two majors are offered to allow students to specialize in their area of interest: Health and Clinical Informatics and Bioinformatics and Computational Biology.

1A Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science degree, or its equivalent, from an accredited college or university is required prior to matriculation to medical school. No preference will be shown for any particular major or area of study. Personal interest and passion for intellectual questions posed by a field of study should be the primary motivator in selecting a major or area of concentration. All applicants should strive to pursue a wide variety of coursework spanning the humanities, arts, sciences, social sciences and mathematics.
