    About

    The goal of the Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Honours) programme is to equip a selected group of academically able students to progress efficiently to PhD training. It is intended for people who aim to fill leadership roles in research and development.

    You will learn how to apply in-depth biomedical and biological science knowledge for the improvement of human health through the development of novel approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

    With these hypothesis-led research endeavours, you can enhance the links with research communities and grow research outputs for the benefit of the region and the country.

    This programme is for academically able students interested in conducting biomedical research, particularly those considering future PhD study.

    You must have completed an undergraduate degree in science with a major in biomedical sciences (or similar field of study) at a recognised university (or similar institution). You will require a GPE of 6.5 or higher in 75% of your most advanced-level courses.

    Entry Requirements

    You will typically need to have completed one of the following to meet the minimum equivalent University Entrance standard:

    • One semester of successful bachelor degree study from a New Zealand tertiary institution.
    • One year of successful study as part of an acceptable sub-degree qualification from a New Zealand tertiary institution.
    • One year successful bachelor-degree level study at a recognised university (or similar institution) overseas.
