    About

    Biomedical Sciences is about understanding human health and human disease. We study these areas so that, ultimately, we can develop new therapeutic strategies and refine government policy to prolong life and improve the quality of peoples lives.

    Biomedical Sciences at York will open up your potential to become a future leading researcher, policymaker or administrator in biomedical sciences. You will learn how to critically assess information to gain a balanced understanding, how to develop and test scientific hypothesis and how to present your findings clearly and concisely to experts and non-experts alike. This degree will provide you with the skills required to tackle current and future challenges to human health.;

    Our course is delivered by four University departments with outstanding biomedical research activity: The Department of Biology, The Department of Health Sciences, The Department of Psychology, and the Hull York Medical School. The combined teaching across these departments ensures you have the latest understanding of the most important topics in human biology and disease, infection and immunity, epidemiology, and neuroscience.

    Accreditation

    All of our;undergraduate courses;are accredited by the;Royal Society of Biology.;As a graduate, you will meet in-part the academic and experience requirement for membership and chartered biologist (CBiol).

    This is a flexible and modular course which offers you choices in what you can study. There is the option to spend an additional year in industry or a year abroad as part of this course. If you do not go away for a year, you will continue to progress through your studies within the University.

    Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    If you're leaving high school in Jordan with the Tawjihi (General Secondary Education Certificate) you will need to take an additional course before being able to apply for an undergraduate course at York. This could be A levels, the International Baccalaureate or a recognised foundation course.
